Ok, not really decking the halls, but I did get the house decorated for Christmas this past weekend. I did some touch up paint in the family room, and cleaned real good, since I knew I wouldn't be able to once the tree was up. There still is some painting that needs to be done, so hopefully I will be able to work on a little bit each week, and everything will be done before we know it.
This year, trying to figure out where we were going to put the tree was kind of a headache. Where I originally thought it would fit, didn't work out so well. So we had to figure out where it could go, without being in the way too much.
Not really sure why it looks like there aren't any lights on the top section of the tree...we have lights from the top to the bottom. I even put more on this year then I did last year, to help make it look better. So even though the tree is in front of the window, it's really not to much in the way. And the nice thing is that we only had to move minimal furniture.
Since I haven't been real motivated to get all the touch up work done, so I can put things on the walls, I had to be a bit creative on where I got to put up Christmas decor. I thought what better way to utilize the plant shelf that we have, then to put some Christmas things up there? It's really kind of nice the way it worked out. I have something that Grammy made, a couple of things from Grandma, and something that my Grandpa made, many many years ago. It's like we've got everyone looking down on us during our first Christmas season in our new home.
Last year we had these lights strung around the crown molding in our rental house. This year I decided that I would wrap them around the banister. I originally wanted to put a string on each side, but realized that I didn't have enough. So I went with what we had, and now I've got some decorating ideas for next year. Of course by then the banisters will be finished.
We have this stuffed penguin that is sitting on the coffee table. When you push the button, it plays music, sings, and rocks back and forth. Sidney LOVES this thing, as you can see from above, she will stick her nose right in front of it, and push it around if it's not moving. You can tell her to get the penguin, and she will walk right over and make the bell on the back ring.
It's the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.....
We've got some outdoor lights as well, but it's been raining all week, so not only have I not be able to get outside to take some pictures, but there is still one area of the house that needs lights. As soon we get that done I will post some pictures of the outside of the house.
