It's hard to believe that a week ago day we were in the hospital, waiting for Charlie to make his arrival into the world. Needless to say I can't believe that it's been a week already. It might be due to the fact that everyone is still trying to adjust and figure all this out. For the most part, it has been a pretty good first week. Charlie and momma are still trying to figure out the feeding schedule, but all that will come with time.

I am already enjoying being at home with Charlie. It's too bad that it's only for a short time. I already cherish everyday with him, and I know that when I have to go back to work, it will be very very hard for me to do so. For now though, we have just been hanging around the house, trying to figure each other out. We have ran a few errands every day, which is good, since I can't sit still for 2 hours, let alone all day long. But staying at home allows for momma to get some lovely pictures of Charlie.

This is pretty much we spend our days. At least now my handsome little man has his eyes open for most of the day. They are the bluest blue I've ever seen.

Hanging with momma, watching TV, even though I'm sure he can't see past my camera.

Woe is me, it is so hard being me. Whatever will I do today?

No more pictures please....I've had enough to day

Total contentment...so sweet

42 weeks....

Well, here we are at 42 weeks, and let me tell you, this is the best week of the pregnancy. Most of you probably know why, but for those of you who don't, little man arrived Friday evening. Charles Edward was born on 5/18 at 8:13pm. Charlie tipped the scales at a whooping 9 lbs 3 oz, 21.5 inches long. The labor and delivery did not quite go as planned, but the end result was well worth the process that we had to go through. I know that I am biased, but I think that he's pretty darn cute.

Our first picture of Charlie. Not so sure about the hat selection, but I didn't have much say in it.

Moving and a shaking, not a very happy camper.

Look how long I am...

Are you my momma?? Nice to meet you.

Snuggle time with little man. Once again, I'm not sure about the hat selection.

Proud daddy and his son

So sweet...

40 weeks...it's got to be close to time

Well, we made it. Here we are at week 40, which given the past two weeks, we didn't think we would see. This past two weeks have been a crazy blur of playing the waiting game, and trying to decide if little man is coming or not. I started having contractions roughly two weeks ago, and even though they weren't very regular, we took it as a good sign that things were moving right along. Well, things were moving, just not as fast as we thought they would, hence the 40 week mark.

Everyone thought that last weekend would be it, since it was not only supposed to rain, it was a full moon, and the moon was going to be the closest to earth that it will be all year. Well, once again little man proved that he has a mind of his own, and he will come when he's good and ready. So we are still playing the waiting game, and wishing that the game will hurry up and be over with. I keep telling little man that there is a very LONG list of people that are anxiously waiting for him to get here, so they can meet him, but he doesn't want to seem to listen to his mamma.  So we wait...

Hopefully next time we post, you won't be seeing pictures of my big ole belly, but of a handsome little man. Only time will tell though....

Silly Sidney

The weather has been pretty nice these past few days, so we've been able to spend some time outdoors after we get home from work. Sidney loves it that we are outside more, since her favorite pass time is to play ball. The only problem is that she doesn't know when to stop. If we would let her she would run herself to death, then continue to chase after the ball still.

Some much needed water after chasing the ball all over the back yard.  After Sidney is done chasing the ball, she does what we call the 'flop'. She will go find a spot, lay down, pant awhile, and then flop over on the side. It's the funniest thing to watch. Unfortunately she doesn't stay down for very long. She will get up, move about 2 feet and then flop again.

Ok, I think this is a good spot to flop...

Oh wait, maybe I will just lay here a bit more...

Going, going...

Gone!!!

Ahhh...

Now through all this fun with Sidney, where might Briley be you ask?? Well, let me show you...

Just sitting on the deck watching all the action take place....

And just because we don't get very many good pictures of Briley, I thought I would throw one more on for everyone to enjoy.

The Nursery

In all of the hard work this weekend, I finally finished put the nursery together. Well, almost together. There are still a few things we need to do, like hang the doors, now that they are painted, and we have door knobs and hinges. I been waiting as long as possible to put the crib together, since everything was all nice and clean. But since we are two weeks out, Mike figured we were close enough that I could do that. So that is one of the many things I did this weekend.

There are still finishing touches that need to be done, but pretty much the only thing missing from this room is little man. We are both so excited and can't wait for him to  make his entrance into the world and our lives.

38 weeks and waiting

So here we are at 38 weeks. Things are still pretty uneventful, which is a good thing. I'm now going to see the midwife every week until little man gets here, which is always fun... As of last week everything was where it should be. My blood pressure was a little low, but nothing to get excited about. It was right before lunch, so my guess was that I was just hungry. When the midwife palpated my belly, she noticed that my pelvic bone was starting to spread at the top, which is a good sign that things are moving in the right direction, and would explain all of the lower pelvic pressure that I was having last week.

As for this week, it's been pretty normal. I worked around the house all weekend, while  Mike was up at the lake working on the new dock. Call it nesting, or just that things needed to get done, whatever you choose. I don't know if all the activity has jumped started little man, but I keep telling him that he can start this process any day. Both his mommy and daddy are ready to meet him, along with a long list of other people. We both know he will get here when he's ready, but that doesn't mean that we would like it to be as soon as possible. :)

As we wait for little man, momma continues to grow and grow...

My big ole belly, with my now officially outtie belly button. The old saying goes, once the timer pops out, it's done right??

Oh I never thought I could get this big....

36 weeks

Well, here we are at the 36 week mark. It's crazy how fast the time has gone by. It's hard to believe that I will officially be full term the first part of next week. The time has flown by. I'm heading to the doctor tomorrow for what starts appointments every week...blah..not that I want to drive to downtown Lexington every week, but that means that we are that much closer to meeting our little guy. :)

This week our little guy is putting on an ounce a day. He is weighing in at roughly 6 pounds and is more than 18.5 inches long. That's why my belly is feeling so tight these days! Poor little man is running out of room. Grammy and Papa came into town last week for the summer. That is exciting. It was good to see them again, and that means that summer is on it's way. We're heading for a great many weekends at the lake with our new little family.

The scrubs still hide the true size of the belly...

Now you see how big, and odd shaped it has become.

Just look at the big ole belly!!
