Week 17

Welcome to week 17 of our pregnancy. I can't believe that I'm already at week 17. What is going on this week is that our baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone. He or she weighs roughly 5 ounces, and is around 5 inches long, from head to bottom, roughly the size of a turnip. He or she can move their joints, and sweat glands are starting to develop.
The activity of this child is starting to kick into high gear. He or she is pretty much active every day, and makes their presence known. Yesterday morning this kid was giving me fits, there must have been a party in my womb. It's nice to feel the movement pretty much every day now, I just can't believe that I'm feeling it already. The other night Mike got to feel the baby kick for the first time. The kid was kicking me, so Mike put his hand on my belly and kind of pushed, and he felt a kick move his finger slightly. At first I thought he was just kidding with me, I didn't expect for him to feel movement yet. I'm so excited that he did feel it, he was so happy to finally feel his child moving about. =)

Growing, growing, growing.... it seems like it's all I'm doing now....

The girls are doing well...as always, Sidney is always ready for a photo op, while Briley on the other hand was looking for a way out when Mike caught her with the camera.

4 months down....already??

Were to start?? It's hard to believe that I'm already 4 months into this pregnancy. It doesn't seem like it's been that long already. Things are still going well. I had a doctor's appointment late last week, and everything checked out just fine. The baby's heartbeat is still good and strong, and has decreased a little in speed. Which is normal, at least according to the doctor and nurses. This week our little one is about 4 and a half inches long, head to rump, and weighs in at 3 and a half ounces, pretty much the size of an avocado.  He or she has also started to grow fingernails, and his or her scalp pattern has started to form, even though there aren't any locks of hair present yet. Mike made the comment that my belly really looks big this week. It's still hard to see it really well under my scrubs, and I still just look fat when I'm in my maternity clothes, but when I'm in my pj's the belly really is starting to stick out.

Here's a view of me in my scrubs. Now keep in mind, I had to buy some bigger tops a couple of weeks ago, the old ones, just weren't fitting like I wanted them to. It's noticeable when I pull on my top, but that's about it. Not like I'm rushing anything, I know that my time will come.

So what do you think?? Was Mike right about the belly really starting to get big this week? It's hard for me to tell how much it's changing. I know it is, but when you look at it everyday,  it's hard to see the difference.

In the next couple of weeks, the baby is supposed to go through a growth spurt, and will not only double in weight, but in size. So who knows what things will look like on the outside during all this.

Week 15 update

Welcome to your week 15 update. Not too much going on, just everyday routine. It's hard to believe that next week is Thanksgiving, and that Christmas it only 4 weeks after that. Where has this year gone?? I once heard that the older you get, the faster the years fly by, and I'm a firm believer on that one.

As soon as we found out that I was pregnant, I signed up for weekly updates from a website to help us track our baby's growth and progress. This week our baby is about 4 inches long, from head to rump, and weighs about 2 and a half ounces. Pretty much comparable to an apple. What I thought was interesting is that the baby's taste buds are  fully formed, even though there's not much to taste. Also even though his or her eyelids are still fused shut, he or she can sense light. If we were to shine a flashlight on my belly, the baby would move away from the light. Pretty cool huh??

But I'm sure that you are all ready for the weekly pictures so I won't keep you waiting any longer...

Not much else going on. I'm still feeling good, and sleeping well. I head to the doctor this Thursday, for this month's appointment. So hopefully good things will come from that.

As you can tell, the girls are super excited about what is going on around here these days... Sidney just loves the camera. Every time it's out, she's all for a picture opt.

As for Briley, she could care less about a picture opt. But then that's our Briley, calm and cool no matter what's going on around here. Silly puppies...it's crazy how different they are, but at the same time, how much they are alike, and get long with each other. We refer to them as sisters, and truthfully, that is what they are, sisters.

Hello Second Trimester!!

Welcome to my second trimester! It's hard to believe that I'm already in my second trimester. I don't understand why the second trimester doesn't start until week 14, but what do I know? This week has been pretty uneventful. I did have to buy bigger scrub tops this week. The old ones weren't fitting like they should.

Even with the new scrub tops, my belly is still sticking out a bit. But I guess being 14 weeks pregnant will do that to someone. =)

On a non-pregnancy note, Mike got himself a new surround sound system this weekend. Of course once we bought that, we had to buy a new tv stand, so that everything will fit...but we did find a screaming deal on both items, so that makes everyone happy.

13 weeks down, 27 more to go...

Hello week 13!! Holy moly I can't believe that I'm almost done with my 13th week already!! How time has flown by.

As promised, here are a few pictures of the baby belly. I've started to feel pregnant this week, and I've started to actually look pregnant, while I'm in my scrubs for work. Until now, I just looked like I had put on a little weight across my belly.

Baby bellies are so much fun. Another exciting event this week, is that I have started to the baby moving about inside. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but after doing some reading, and talking to a few people, I'm pretty sure that I'm feeling him or her moving about. At first it was every so often, but here lately it's been almost once a day, if not several times a day. The nice thing is that this kiddo seems to be pretty active during the day, but calms down in the evening. Maybe this will continue, one can only hope.

Just had to share this random picture. Mike was playing with the camera, and he snapped this one. Just a little bit of the silliness that is going on in our house.

Week 12

Welcome to week 12!! Sorry for missing last week, but it was a very crazy week, and no matter what we did, there just wasn't enough time to get everything done. I did have a doctor's appointment last Monday, and everything went well. Everybody was very pleased, and the baby's heartbeat was good and strong, a little slower than before, but still very strong.  So that brings us to week 12. This time, there is pictures to go with this week.

A view from the side

And a view from the front. If you look closely, you can see the the lines starting to be more defined. I have a small circle on my belly.

I still don't feel like I'm 12 weeks pregnant, time has really flown by. I still feeling great, no sickness. =) The fatigue is starting to be less and less. I am now able to start staying up a little later than I was. Which is good, since going to bed at 9 or 9:30 really made me feel like I was getting old. It's hard to believe that I am almost in my second trimester. Wow....

Silly, silly puppy

This Sunday morning, we were making breakfast, and Mike went back to the bedroom, and this was what he saw.

Briley was just chilling on the bed, enjoying the lazy Sunday morning that we all were having. But Sidney was no where to be found...

He came back out to check on how breakfast was coming, thinking that Sidney might be hanging out where the food was, but he was wrong, she wasn't here.

Here was our baby dog, all curled up in our bathroom. Why you ask??? Once when she was a tiny puppy, we were cooking breakfast, and whatever we were cooking, popped out some grease, and hit her. So now, whenever she hears some sizzling, she runs and hides. This is new though, usually she just went and laid down on her bed, which is in our room. I guess she feels safer in the bathroom. The funny thing is that our bathroom is right behind the kitchen. So in reality she is closer to the sizzling than what she wishes to be. Just don't tell her there. Silly puppy....
